Fair Housing at Compass Property Management

At Compass Property Management, our policies and practices reflect our dedication to maintaining a rental environment that is fair, professional, and fully compliant with federal, state, and local fair housing laws. Ensuring equal access to housing is both a legal responsibility and an essential part of the service we provide to Michigan rental property owners and residents.

Our Policy

Compass Property Management is committed to providing equal housing opportunities and maintaining full compliance with the Federal Fair Housing Act, the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988, and Michigan housing laws.

The Federal Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, or disability. Michigan law further expands these protections to include age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, height, and weight.

It is the policy of Compass Property Management that all units under our management are made available to all persons without regard to any of these protected classes. This applies to every aspect of our operations, including marketing, screening, leasing, property management, and resident services.

All Compass Property Management employees, contractors, and agents who have responsibility for renting, managing, or administering any dwelling units are required to uphold this policy without exception.

  • Discriminate in the terms, conditions, or privileges of rental, or in the provision of services or facilities, because of a person’s protected class.
  • Publish, circulate, or cause to be made any advertisement or statement that indicates a preference, limitation, or discrimination against a protected group.
  • Represent that a dwelling is unavailable for inspection or rental when it is in fact available, based on a person’s protected class.
