Our mission is to maintain the delicate balance between the residents and the client’s needs.  This balance will be measured by our ability to protect and meet the planned budget of the investment while simultaneously treating the resident with respect and furnishing a healthy, safe living environment.  We strive to provide a win-win atmosphere in providing for those unique needs of our clients and residents.

Who is Mark Troy?

Mark is the owner/broker of Compass Property Management. He was an Infantry Officer for the United States Army. Mark has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Western Michigan University. He worked at Steelcase for over 10 years in their engineer department and sourcing department. Five years ago Mark pursued his passion for real estate. He helped build a small leasing/property management business and has now branched off to start Compass PM. In his spare time, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife, Christy, and his son, David. He is very active in his church and is a course leader in Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. Mark enjoys helping out with local missions and community projects. In his really spare time you will find Mark on a river fishing or grilling on his Weber grill.  

Who is John Brophy?

John Brophy is a recent addition to the Michigan area; he moved here from New Jersey in summer of 2007. Born and raised in Trenton, John graduated from The College of New Jersey with a BS in Engineering. Having had a number of different jobs working as a bank teller, bartender, and in landscaping John settled into a career at an automotive supplier working in research and development. John dipped his toes into the property management waters early when he chose an untraditional route of moving out of the "nest" by purchasing a small 4 family property on the outskirts of Trenton. As a live-in landlord, John quickly learned the ropes of what it takes to balance the financial needs of a property investment with the day to day needs of the residents living under his roof.

In 2007, John married his beautiful wife who was a Michigander living in NJ for grad school. Shortly thereafter his family moved from the busy East Coast to Grand Rapids to be closer to family. John enjoys taking advantage of the many things that Michigan has to offer over NJ, such as trees, fresh air, and nice people. He does however miss things such as hills, mountains, and scrapple.

John his happy to be an addition to the Compass family and looks forward to helping grow and improve the business, both for our owners and residents.

Who is Holly Forseman?

Holly joined our team in June of 2008. She is in charge of our leasing and marketing department here at Compass. She brings to Compass over 14 years of property management experience. Holly started out as a leasing agent for Old Farm Shores an Eastbrook Company. After a couple of years she was asked to take on the resident manager position and then a few years later she was promoted to property manager; in charge of two communities and a total of 400 apartment units.

Holly has her CAM certification (Certified Property Manager) and her Real Estate License. Holly grew up in Dundee, IL. She attended Elgin Community College and Arizona State University. In 1990 her family moved to Michigan. When Holly is not busy leasing homes for Compass, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband Dave, her friends, and her family.

Who is Laurel Lotterman? 

She is the receptionist at Compass PM.  She has put two years towards an Elementary Education Degree and is contemplating eventually returning to school to finish her degree.  She spent the past 4 years teaching autistic children in the Grandville School District to swim.  She teaches Sunday School at her church and also enjoys spending time there.  In her free time, Laurel can be found baking, reading, or spending time with friends outdoors.
